This animation was used as an intro splash on the United Dictators of Mars web site. It's a very simply annimated GIF sequenced in Image Ready which is part of the Photoshop suite. Making the planet look destroyed was really just a matter of adjusting the red tint around the planet. The destrying ship was a Flying V guitar ship but you just see it's shadow. To create this you have to make the actual art area larger than what the final frame sizes/area will be. By moving a graphic of an actual flying V outside the frame area you can create a long drop shadow that extends far past the actual guitar and on to the planet. Continue to make small movements and save a separate file of each finished movement then place them in sequence into the image ready animation window.
